Water Damage

We have all heard it happens, someone drops their phone in water/liquid. But when it happens to you, what do you do?

Hopefully you have already had done a recent backup ! If not, do it NOW. Or tonight, ASAP.

Imagine loosing your phone, would you miss your data? Photos, contacts…….

Back to water damage, first thing you should always do, is remove your battery, if possible. Many phones can’t, so next step, is just to dry it. But do TURN IT OFF.

Rice or heat???? I will always tell you, heat will dry faster than rice. So I’d recommend Heat. Use a hair dryer. Heat it until it’s hot, close to untouchable. (Aim is to remove all water, so corrosion doesn’t start)

Wait for it to cool. Heat again. Try even leave in the sun.

Ideally, you would dismantle it, and then dry, but that’s not always possible.

Try turn it on, if it doesn’t. Don’t charge it. If you try charge it, there is a chance the extra power, may cause a short if the liquid was not completely evaporated.

Bring it in to a repair store. If it didn’t work.

We will try to do our best, a simple clean is $50, and parts on top if needed, to get a resolution. If we don’t fix it, there is no charge. So you have nothing to lose.
